Versailles through the lens of Robert Polidori

7 December 2009

I have adored the photography of Robert Polidori ever since I bought his gorgeous book about Versailles as an impoverished undergraduate in Nottingham. I remember it now, my heart hammering in my chest as I handed my card over. It was and still remains, the most expensive book that I have ever bought.

It was worth every penny though.

One day I will save up enough money to buy his latest book about Versailles, which charts the restoration work over the last twenty five years but in the meantime, let me share these beautiful images with you of Versailles as most of us will never see it.
